Need individual supplemental dental insurance?

If you live in Maryland there's no doubt that we have your two best options with the Maryland Preventive Dentistry Program and Superior Dental Group.

But if you don't live in Maryland one particular competitor of ours, DentalInsurance.com, is probably worth checking out simply because of the wide variety of plans and programs they carry. We once tried to line up a lot of different programs ourselves in order to compete with them but it turns out we don't have the resources necessary to negotiate the rates they came up with.

DentalInsurance.com has national plans as well as a number of regional plans that might be just what you're looking for today. But, remember, if you live in Maryland no one has a program good enough to beat ours!

2. Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics
MEDICAL AND DENTAL INSURANCE Eligibility Requirements To be eligible to participate in health benefits, you must have a regularly scheduled tour of duty of at least 40 hours per pay period and be serving under an indefinite appointment or temporary appointment of 90 days or more. Employees who want coverage must enroll within 60 days of initial appointment, unless covered by one of the exceptions listed on page 4 of this section. Benefit Choices Eligible Trust Fund employees may choose from the following plans, summarized below: CIGNA Preferred Provider (PPO) Plan is a plan that allows employees to obtain medical care within a preferred provider network (contracted at reduced costs). It affords the freedom of choice to obtain medical care outside the network by paying a deductible ($200/individual and $400/family per calendar year) and copayment (generally 30% of covered charges). A separate deductible of $150 per hospital confinement will apply for all inpatient admissions as a registered bed patient. In-network and out-of-network admissions are both covered by this deductible. Reconfinement to a hospital within 90 days for the same condition will not incur a new deductible.

4. Washington University School of Medicine
Health And Dental Insurance The medical school has flexible health and dental insurance programs so that employees may select coverage to best meet their individual needs. Currently, six insurance programs are available that include health, dental and prescription drug coverage: four Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) plans, one Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plan and one Point of Service (POS) plan. If health insurance is not needed through the university, an employee can purchase dental coverage only. The insurance plans provide coverage for employees and eligible dependents. All regular employees of the medical school working at least 20 standard hours per week or more are eligible to participate in these insurance programs. The university makes a monthly contribution toward the cost of health/dental insurance for all full-time employees and for employees working 20 hours per week or more. Employees and their dependents must enroll within the first 31 days of employment eligibility. If date of hire is the first of the month, employees may choose an effective date of that day or the first of the following month.
